Studio LK was instructed by the Brentwood Housing Trust to develop four mews houses on their site in Brentwood, Essex.
The scheme will provide 2 x two-storey two-bed mews houses with integrated car parking and 2 x one-storey two bed mews houses, which take precedent from existing mews houses in Brentwood.
Studio LK is working with a company in China, who will provide a quality light gauge steel modular system for the house designs. The components will be quality controlled prior to shipping to the UK. Works below ground will be undertaken by a contractor, and the modular system of components will be assembled on site thereafter.
Significant time and cost savings are passed onto the client as a result of using this system. The system has a 90 year guarantee, and banks accept this system with regards to mortgages.
Studio LK will be working between the UK and China to develop the modular housing designs, which will become prototypes for larger subsequent housing projects.
