The Yardley Gobion Neighbourhood Plan (NP) will enable the people of Yardley Gobion to have a strong influence over the future of their village and parish until 2026.

The NP is not about stopping growth but about planning positively for development and having some control over where it goes, what it looks like and who it is for. It also highlights those things in the parish that the community wishes to retain and conserve whilst identifying other elements that the community wishes to improve.

Additionally, new opportunities granted to parishes through the availability of community infrastructure money gained from new development allows Neighbourhood Plans to include, and deliver, more aspirational objectives that up until now have always been the preserve of Parish Plans.

Studio LK led the NP development through an Enquiry by Design process.

The NP’s core objectives are as follows:

• To ensure that all new development respects, enhances and appropriately relates to the built character of the existing village and its situation in the surrounding open countryside
• To ensure that all new housing development is proportionate in scale and provides suitable and sufficient affordable dwellings for the housing needs of the parish
• To encourage the provision of small-scale employment facilities on appropriate sites
• To support and encourage a safe local highway network and enhanced public transport service where need is identified
• To ensure that, where possible, all new development respects and enhances open spaces and existing footpaths within the village
• To directly or indirectly support and where possible improve all existing community facilities and services within the village, both commercial and non commercial
