Studio LK have been working with a private client to develop a design for a new villa, of circa 750 sq.m. (8,000 sq ft), based on Georgian proportions and massing.
The proposed house is designed to sit within a large garden, within a rural setting. The proposed house has a basement, ground, first and second floor level, with a double height space above the drawing room and the hall. An orangery is also located at the side of the building. A two and a half storey building was felt to be an appropriate massing the for local context. Dormer window detailing will draw upon local precedents that exist locally.
The architectural language also reflects the rustic local architectural character, which comprises brick english bond finishes and red roof tiles. The building will use natural materials where possible.
